| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The changed routines are mostly those that can be directly called by ProcessUtilitySlow; the intention is to make the affected object information more precise, in support for future event trigger changes. Originally it was envisioned that the OID of the affected object would be enough, and in most cases that is correct, but upon actually implementing the event trigger changes it turned out that ObjectAddress is more widely useful. Additionally, some command execution routines grew an output argument that's an object address which provides further info about the executed command. To wit: * for ALTER DOMAIN / ADD CONSTRAINT, it corresponds to the address of the new constraint * for ALTER OBJECT / SET SCHEMA, it corresponds to the address of the schema that originally contained the object. * for ALTER EXTENSION {ADD, DROP} OBJECT, it corresponds to the address of the object added to or dropped from the extension. A nice side benefit is that several kilobytes move from initialized data to text segment, allowing them to be shared across processes and probably reducing copy-on-write overhead while forking a new backend. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to help libpq in the same way (at least not when it's compiled with -fpic on x86_64), but we can hope the linker at least collects all nominally-const data together even if it's not actually part of the text segment. Also, make pg_encname_tbl[] static in encnames.c, since there seems no very good reason for any other code to use it; per a suggestion from Wim Lewis, who independently submitted a patch that was mostly a subset of this one. The equality operators will now be selected from the opfamily of the unique index that the FK constraint depends on to enforce uniqueness of the referenced columns; therefore they are certain to be consistent with that index's notion of equality. Among other things this should fix the problem noted awhile back that pg_dump may fail for foreign-key constraints on user-defined types when the required operators aren't in the search path. This also means that the former warning condition about "foreign key constraint will require costly sequential scans" is gone: if the comparison condition isn't indexable then we'll reject the constraint entirely. All per past discussions. Along the way, make the RI triggers look into pg_constraint for their information, instead of using pg_trigger.tgargs; and get rid of the always error-prone fixed-size string buffers in ri_triggers.c in favor of building up the RI queries in StringInfo buffers. initdb forced due to columns added to pg_constraint and pg_trigger.
