* Remove useless SHA256 initialization when not using backup manifestsMichael Paquier2020-11-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Attempting to take a base backup with Postgres linking to a build of OpenSSL with FIPS enabled currently fails with or even without a backup manifest requested because of this mandatory SHA256 initialization used for the manifest file itself. However, there is no need to do this initialization at all if backup manifests are not needed because there is no data to append to the manifest. Note that being able to use backup manifests with OpenSSL+FIPS requires a switch of the SHA2 implementation to use EVP, which would cause an ABI breakage so this cannot be backpatched to 13 as it has been already released, but at least avoiding this SHA256 initialization gives users the possibility to take a base backup even when specifying --no-manifest with pg_basebackup. * Fix buffile.c error handling.Thomas Munro2020-06-16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Convert buffile.c error handling to use ereport. This fixes cases where I/O errors were indistinguishable from EOF or not reported. Also remove "%m" from error messages where errno would be bogus. While we're modifying those strings, add block numbers and short read byte counts where appropriate. Back-patch to all supported releases. * Remove unnecessary castPeter Eisentraut2020-05-22
| | | | | Probably copied from nearby calls where it is necessary. But this one also casts away constness, so it was doubly annoying.
* Initial pgindent and pgperltidy run for v13.Tom Lane2020-05-14
| | | | | | | | | | | Includes some manual cleanup of places that pgindent messed up, most of which weren't per project style anyway. Notably, it seems some people didn't absorb the style rules of commit c9d297751, because there were a bunch of new occurrences of function calls with a newline just after the left paren, all with faulty expectations about how the rest of the call would get indented.
* Rename exposed identifiers to say "backup manifest".Robert Haas2020-04-23
| | | | | | | | | | Function names declared "extern" now use BackupManifest in the name rather than just Manifest, and data types use backup_manifest rather than just manifest. Per note from Michael Paquier. Discussion: http://postgr.es/m/20200418125713.GG350229@paquier.xyz
* Move the server's backup manifest code to a separate file.Robert Haas2020-04-20
basebackup.c is already a pretty big and complicated file, so it makes more sense to keep the backup manifest support routines in a separate file, for clarity and ease of maintenance. Discussion: http://postgr.es/m/CA+TgmoavRak5OdP76P8eJExDYhPEKWjMb0sxW7dF01dWFgE=uA@mail.gmail.com
