* Remove incorrect assertion for INSERT in logical replication's publisherMichael Paquier2020-01-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | On the publisher, it was assumed that an INSERT change cannot happen for a relation with no replica identity. However this is true only for a change that needs references to old rows, aka UPDATE or DELETE, so trying to use logical replication with a relation that has no replica identity led to an assertion failure in the publisher when issuing an INSERT. This commit removes the incorrect assertion, and adds more regression tests to provide coverage for relations without replica identity. * Phase 2 pgindent run for v12.Tom Lane2019-05-22
| | | | | | | | | Switch to 2.1 version of pg_bsd_indent. This formats multiline function declarations "correctly", that is with additional lines of parameter declarations indented to match where the first line's left parenthesis is. * Generated columnsPeter Eisentraut2019-03-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is an SQL-standard feature that allows creating columns that are computed from expressions rather than assigned, similar to a view or materialized view but on a column basis. This implements one kind of generated column: stored (computed on write). Another kind, virtual (computed on read), is planned for the future, and some room is left for it. * Logical replication support for TRUNCATEPeter Eisentraut2018-04-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Update the built-in logical replication system to make use of the previously added logical decoding for TRUNCATE support. Add the required truncate callback to pgoutput and a new logical replication protocol message. Publications get a new attribute to determine whether to replicate truncate actions. When updating a publication via pg_dump from an older version, this is not set, thus preserving the previous behavior. * Change tupledesc->attrs[n] to TupleDescAttr(tupledesc, n).Andres Freund2017-08-20
| | | | | | | | | | | This is a mechanical change in preparation for a later commit that will change the layout of TupleDesc. Introducing a macro to abstract the details of where attributes are stored will allow us to change that in separate step and revise it in future. * Phase 2 of pgindent updates.Tom Lane2017-06-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change pg_bsd_indent to follow upstream rules for placement of comments to the right of code, and remove pgindent hack that caused comments following #endif to not obey the general rule. Commit e3860ffa4dd0dad0dd9eea4be9cc1412373a8c89 wasn't actually using the published version of pg_bsd_indent, but a hacked-up version that tried to minimize the amount of movement of comments to the right of code. The situation of interest is where such a comment has to be moved to the right of its default placement at column 33 because there's code there. BSD indent has always moved right in units of tab stops in such cases --- but in the previous incarnation, indent was working in 8-space tab stops, while now it knows we use 4-space tabs. So the net result is that in about half the cases, such comments are placed one tab stop left of before. This is better all around: it leaves more room on the line for comment text, and it means that in such cases the comment uniformly starts at the next 4-space tab stop after the code, rather than sometimes one and sometimes two tabs after. Also, ensure that comments following #endif are indented the same as comments following other preprocessor commands such as #else. That inconsistency turns out to have been self-inflicted damage from a poorly-thought-through post-indent "fixup" in pgindent. This patch is much less interesting than the first round of indent changes, but also bulkier, so I thought it best to separate the effects. * Fix logical replication between different encodingsPeter Eisentraut2017-04-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When sending a tuple attribute, the previous coding erroneously sent the length byte before encoding conversion, which would lead to protocol failures on the receiving side if the length did not match the following string. To fix that, use pq_sendcountedtext() for sending tuple attributes, which takes care of all of that internally. To match the API of pq_sendcountedtext(), send even text values without a trailing zero byte and have the receiving end put it in place instead. This matches how the standard FE/BE protocol behaves.
